Go The Knights

Wayne where do I start?? You were the most generous and open hearted character that I have ever met, there was always such a positive auroa around you!! Wheather that was just sitting around you at Unice`s house or watching a game of footy with you.  You have had such a possitive effect on my life mate.  I still remember a few years back when I was still living in Newcastle and you were planning a holiday and you were trying for weeks and weeks to get hold of me so you could give me ur pass so someone was looking after your seat for, it is this kind heart that has made everyone fall in love with you, no matter what you were doing you always tried to make us laugh or smile( sometimes these to lead us to just down right shaking our heads at you lol) you were a great character and and even better friend.  I just said to nan `I wonder if he still thinks that your my mum ahahah` you would always come up to me and start most sentences with `That mother of yours Lynnie` and I would always just crack up laughing.  I think it is ever so fiiting that the last time I saw you was at a Knights game on the Gold Coast and the last time we spoke on the phone was at a Knights game in Melbourne and I feel so blessed to have had you in my life.  I am very confident in saying that if it wasnt for you and people like you that you have inspired the Knights wouldnt be the club they are today, wheather that be you selling tickets at the ground, getting together groups for away games, being the SOLE centre of attention on the bus ahahahah and just your down right love for the club, you wore your heart on your sleeve and we all agree that your heart is painted red and blue.  Home games wont be the same without you my friend the ground will be so much emptier with out you, your spirit and passion.  Im pretty convincted that the pearly white gates now have a splash of red and blue on them.

We love you mate and we know you are still here with us my friend, we will see you buddy.

I would like to thank most sincerely the members of Wayne`s family who made me feel welcome at his funeral yesterday & some of whom who invited me to the get together afterwards at Cameron Park which I was uanble to attend.

Wayne confided in me, and told me some weeks ago how

(a) his father`s death had saddened him

(b)  the recent deaths of elderly men at Kara had

devastated him & placed him on 3 months Stress Leave.

(c) a trip to Melbourne for the Knights game had been a

disastrous weekend, one he wanted to forget as quickly

as possible.

He was regularly phoning Jenny & me to inquire about us (Jen`s health in particular) and showed what a  caring person he was.

I know deep down he didn`t believe anybody much really genuinely cared about him.  I asked about his mum, and he said she passed away when he was very young,

he didn`t have one.  I was surprised as we always thought the lady at the Adamstown bingo was his mum.

The Newcastle Knights are to be congratulated on their wonderful acknowledgement of this young man.

He will be sadly missed by all, especially by me at the bingo and footy.

He wasn`t what we all look upon as a friend, to me, i rarely

was in his company he had his own selective group of

mates, but he was special in his own unique way.

As a happily married man with my own & Jen`s families,

i didn`t have the time.   I feel sad today.

May he rest in peace +

David Crich JP

From Douglas Bennett, COMAG group and other friends from the G Hotel;

Wayne and I had a special friendship where we could confide talk about most things almost like I was family. Good memories of Karaoke and pool playing at The G. Wayne had an uncanny ability to know everybody in the hotel and to befriend people easily, he was fun to be with and one could always have a good laugh.

With my wiry sometimes dry sense of humour I often had him in fits of laughter.

Wayne was also generous and I am sure he must have been the same to his family and other friends. I didn`t know his family, but their generosity was demonstrated at his service on Friday 14th.

To Mimi I have your guitar clock and the small embellishment will be place permantly on the back of it. I now say this with emotional feeling from us as I bid my last farewell to you.
